On April 13, 2024, the Ivy Enrichment Foundation of Tampa Bay, Inc. launched the 2024 session of its highly anticipated STEM Education program. This year, the journey began with an exciting visit to Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU) during its annual STEM Day. The day was filled with exploration, learning, and inspiration, setting the stage for a year of growth and discovery.

The trip to FAMU was a first for many of our program participants, offering them a unique opportunity to experience a college campus, and for some, an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities), for the very first time. The excitement was palpable as students stepped onto the grounds of FAMU, ready to immerse themselves in the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Throughout the day, participants toured the FAMU campus, gaining insights into the vibrant academic and social environment. They met with several esteemed professors from the FAMU STEM Center, who shared their knowledge and passion for various STEM fields. These interactions provided invaluable perspectives on the diverse opportunities available within STEM education and careers.

One of the highlights of the day was the hands-on classes offered in subjects such as design, math, and even the intricate art of origami. These interactive sessions allowed students to engage directly with the material, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of STEM concepts. The origami class, in particular, showcased the beauty of mathematics in art, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of STEM education.

The visit to FAMU's STEM Day not only broadened the horizons of our participants but also ignited a spark of curiosity and ambition. Seeing firsthand the possibilities that a STEM education can offer, especially within an HBCU setting, was a transformative experience. Our students left FAMU with a renewed sense of purpose and excitement for their future studies and careers in STEM.

As the 2024 STEM Education program continues, we look forward to building on this momentum, providing more opportunities for our participants to explore, learn, and grow. The Ivy Enrichment Foundation of Tampa Bay, Inc. is committed to nurturing the next generation of STEM leaders, and this kick-off event at FAMU has set a promising tone for the journey ahead.

Stay tuned for more updates on our program and the incredible achievements of our participants!
