Reading Is More Than Fundamental
Ivy Enrichment Foundation of Tampa Bay's "Reading is More Than Fundamental" program is dedicated to enhancing literacy skills for students in grades 1-5 who are reading below grade level. The initiative encompasses twelve educational meetings, each lasting one and a half hours, designed to deliver a comprehensive literacy curriculum with a primary focus on reading. The program offers computer-based or face-to-face training and concludes with a Spelling Bee competition, fostering an engaging and interactive learning environment.
Resource materials, including books, computer tablets, computer-based training programs, and other reading resources, are provided to participating students. Annually, the foundation commits to providing up to 36 Units of Service, with a "Unit of Service" defined as a student participating in the program attending a minimum of eight out of the twelve meetings.
To measure the program's impact, 70% of students who complete the entire program are expected to demonstrate an increase in test scores and grade-level reading skills. This assessment is conducted through pre and posttests administered at the inception and closure of the program, aligning with the foundation's commitment to improving literacy outcomes for participating students.
