STEM Education

The Ivy Enrichment Foundation of Tampa Bay's STEM Education Program aims to ignite and nurture the interest of middle and high school students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) concepts. The program offers four 4-hour workshops, accommodating up to twenty participants each, or a full-day field trip as an alternative. During these sessions, students receive instruction on the basic operation of electronic equipment to support ongoing STEM-related skill development at home.

Facilitated by STEM Program Coaches and community partners with professional backgrounds in various STEM fields, the program emphasizes hands-on learning experiences. Students, when feasible and considering safety guidelines, may participate in field trips to witness STEM functions firsthand. The foundation is committed to providing up to 80 Units of Service annually, with a "Unit of Service" defined as a student participating in a workshop or field trip.

To assess the program's effectiveness, 80% of students are expected to demonstrate an increase in knowledge of basic commands for programming robotic movements and an understanding of prototyping as a contextual engineering design technique. This assessment is measured through pre and posttests, aligning with the foundation's commitment to fostering STEM education and hands-on learning experiences for participating students.
